Two employees in a pharmacy stopped a shoplifter and held him down until the police came and they were fired. Go figure. This was in central Indiana several years ago.
I drove a friend to a Sarasota Walmart to get a replacement battery for her car. We had to speak to 5 employees before we found someone versed enough in English to direct us to the battery aisle.
The checkout girl kept turning the battery upside down at the register looking for a scan code. She got battery acid all over the counter and I had to yell for a manager to clean the acid up before somebody got burnt. The check out girl spoke zero English and had no clue how to handle a battery.
The battery turned out to be no cheaper than the local parts store.
I got stopped at Walmart on military Boynton beach neighborhood store.
The manage had 3 police meet me at exit door
The manager checked all my bags he said he thought I was stealing
I had my receipt and was cleared
They didn’t charge me and let me go
This manager should definitely be fired
Was very embarrassing as I was being searched and people I know walked by.
My lawyer neighbor said this is definitely a good law suit
I’m deciding ???
It doesn’t pay to be a Good Samaritan anymore, do the right thing for your employer and they kick your ass out the door. At least the guy is alive to tell about it, he’s lucky.
Good reason to avoid Walmart. They would rather do DEI and support left wing organized theft than support law and order. Just remove the doors and let the thieves empty the store. Then close the store and hear the crooks complain that they no longer have a place to shop (read steal). This is organized stupidity.
And Walmart will not share their videos with the police because they do not want anyone knowing the position of their cameras, nor do they want to testify. They use it only to prevent theft of property. Their security are under cover within the store when an observation is made.
They do not want you chasing lifters, because if you get hurt and end up in the hospital for 6 months, Walmart has to pay the costs of your treatment and rehab. Besides, this employee is not the police. it is not your job to apprehend or capture or arrest or detain. Call the cops and let them do it… Why even bother trying to be a hero? Maybe even a dead hero!
