I always put a new gas cap on any used vehicle I buy and soak the seal in Armor All every now and again. Running fuel cleaner now and again won’t hurt a thing. I have no use for four or six cylinder engines but for $70 I would have jumped on that. Check it out and sell it. Sounds as though the guy needed a vehicle and a neighbor helped him out, pretty cool.
In 1964 I paid $90 for a 1956 Studebaker Silver Hawk, 6 cylinder stick shift. The body had no rust and it passed the Pennsylvania State inspection needing only a license plate light bulb. The engine ran great and the interior was spotless. I felt it was a real steal for $90. You got me beat on that one. $70 dollars is a total gift. Wow.
