You’re forgetting that Hitler came from Austria and Bavaria–from a heavily Catholic region in Europe–and waged an essentially Catholic war (World War II), against the rest of the non-Catholic world. He allied with Catholic Italy, supported Catholic Spain during their civil war, went easy on Catholics in France, after first defeating France in invasion and conquest–even went easy on Catholics in Poland and western Ukraine, initially. But he massacred Jews, gypsies, cripples and communists, initially, and then slaughtered Orthodox Christians, whether in Serbia, Greece, or eastern Ukraine or Russia. He also had the tacit support of the pope (who never condemned him), and the Catholic Swiss bankers. And Catholic Hungary and Catholic Croatia both rallied to his side, while Catholic south and central America tried to remain neutral, initially–not supporting the Allies. Catholic France put up a half-hearted fight against him, initially, while he bombed the hell out of Protestant England, with his Luftwaffe, then ended up declaring war on Protestant United States of America. There are exceptions to this rule but by and large it was Catholics against everybody else.
